First, your £29 admin fee is received by our PayPal, after which your profile information is collected via the form (emailed to you within 24 hours). We may advise you on how to improve your profile or what to learn, for you to increase your chances of a better match.
Next, we internally match your profile with the potential(s) who suit you best. Then, we will forward some of your details [which you approve] to the match(es) - and vice versa. At this point we MAY possibly conduct an interview to approve both parties completely.
Lastly, when InShaaAllah you are interested in the profile, you will receive their detailed profile information. If both parties are happy, meetings are arranged through us, and you get married (InShaaAllah)!
What is the form?
This form is used to collect most of the information which will be needed for the SunnahMatch© process.
Why is the form so detailed?
Marriage is an important process and requires much more information than a job/university application - therefore the form is quite detailed, so please do fill it in thoroughly.
How much does this all cost?
Currently, our administration fee is just a one-off £29. There is no additional hidden cost, and no monthly fees.
Payment is taken via PayPal using the link on the SunnahMatch website homepage. We use PayPal so your payment is secure and trusted, and anyone can pay as long as they have a credit/debit card or PayPal account available. We don't take any cash or cheque payments, they are only taken online. If you have any problems with this, you can contact us and we may be able to provide alternatives.
How islamic is your process?
Our process is one of the few from those currently in this industry which is upon the Sunnah; we don't beat around the bush. No marriages without sister's guardians (wali), no free-mixing via online chats, no downloadable pictures, and no intimate details, no unapproved fake profiles.
For a sister signing up to Sunnah match, what and how much is the Wali's involvement here in the process? How is he involved? Will his details need to be given etc? Will he be contacted? Is it wise for a sister to join if her wali is not entirely happy about it?
A sister can sign up without entering her Wali's details initially, as the form does not hold this to be a mandatory field at first. This way we can find her a very suitable match using the information we have available.
However, when matches are found and some information is ready to be exchanged, we will require the details of the Wali as per the Sunnah. This way, the Wali would be correctly involved because a Nikkah without the wali is not permissible in Islam. We may actually be able to assist the sister with speaking to the Wali to assure him if necessary.
How do you match people?
We conduct compatibility matches by assessing profiles, based on textual evidences from Quran and Sunnah, which you won't find elsewhere.
Who can sign up?
Anyone. If you are physically (and for brothers, financially) able, then you can sign up.
Who has signed up to SunnahMatch© so far? Can I get a preview of profiles?
SunnahMatch has had a range of signups of all ages, backgrounds and levels of practice. We have Muslims of many ethnic backgrounds - Chinese, Afghan, Moroccan, Burmese, Cypriot, Somali, Bengali, Nigerian, Yemeni, Pakistani, Tanzanian, Algerian, Mixed race, more. We hope we will be able to match you with someone suitable sooner if not later.
However, part of our policy, and in accordance to the Sunnah, we are not allowed to divulge the information of anyone, and when you sign up we cannot divulge yours either. We only transfer further details once both parties have approved.
What happens if I don't get matched with anyone?
The SunnahMatch© Team is dedicated and experienced in matchmaking, we have some successful testimonials already. This means that we will put in real effort to try to match you up with someone suitable!
However, in the event that we cannot find a suitable match for you, we will most likely contact you to ask if there are any factors which you may be willing to adjust in order to find a suitable spouse. We can also advise you on how to improve your profile so that more matches are available to you. We advise everyone to share the SunnahMatch service so that it spreads and encourages more sign-ups - through this, we may find you a match!
If, in a worst case scenario we still cannot match you up even after these steps, we will hold your profile for any later additions to the database which you may hopefully be matched with instead.
When the service ends for this batch, will there be another intake of applicants and when?
We advise everyone to sign up as soon as possible whenever SunnahMatch© opens for applicants, as the matchmaking process can also take some time so it is better to sign up sooner even if you prefer to get married later. Some of the questions on our profile form ask about this topic too, so you may hopefully be matched with someone who would prefer a little delay before marriage.
Using my Mobile device, when I accept the Terms, I simply get redirected to PayPal's homepage - where is the option to pay?
If you are facing this difficulty, there may be a problem with your mobile web browser. Try to use a different mobile web browser, or ideally use a desktop web browser like Safari, Chrome or Firefox instead.
Is SunnahMatch© open to reverts, widows, reverts and married men open to a polygynous marriage?
Yes, in accordance to the Sunnah of the Prophet [pbuh], we do not discriminate between Muslim applicants, so every Muslim upon the Sunnah is welcome. Anyone from these backgrounds can hope to be matched with someone suitable by the SunnahMatch© team, and we already have some applicants who may be open to you!
I signed up, but I'm from outside the UK - is my profile going to be accepted, and can I get a refund if not?
If you are outside the UK, for work, studies or something else, but you can move to the UK legally, then your profile is acceptable for SunnahMatch.
However, if you were permanently unable to move to the UK, unfortunately we would not issue a refund for you in this instance.
This is because the terms clearly state that SunnahMatch is available for Muslims of the UK only.
Remember, for you to have been able to pay and sign up, you had to click 'agree' to the Terms, so it is your duty to read them.
